A
year-old band from Austin, Texas, Rebecca Cole's band offers a strong
blend of blues and rock to original folk material. Soulful and lyrically
alive, the band's tight delivery comes from skilled and experienced
musicians who love playing together.
Rebecca
Cole, the band's songwriter and vocalist, offers up a soulful and animated
performance. Her influences come from Mahalia Jackson, Eva Cassidy and
Bonnie Raitt. Classically trained on piano since age seven, she crafts
songs that are lyrically potent and technically strong. Cole has performed
in Spain, Texas, Boston and the U.S. Capitol.
Reese
Perkins, the band's lead guitarist, plays with incredible skill in virtually
every genre. Raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Perkins relocated to
Austin in 1994. Since his arrival he has performed with Shawn Colvin,
Endochine, Ray Benson, Carolyn Wonderland, Bob Schneider and Guy Forsyth,
among others. In addition to his performing experience, Perkins independently
produced four solo albums.
Steve
Allen is a natural and laid-back bass player. His playing glues the
songs together rhythmically and is a strong and necessary compliment
to the other instruments. Allen has been involved in the Austin music
scene since 1977, playing in over a dozen bands and engineering sound
for several musical legends. Allen owned Fun House Studios for four
years.
Kevin
Gaithright on drums brings versatility and skill to every song. Talented
well beyond his twenty years, Gaithright draws from Dixie, Latin and
funk roots to provide a sensitive and subtle dynamic. Gaithright, a
native Austinite, was trained at the Dallas Sound Lab. He is also a
solo guitarist, songwriter and producer.
Byron
Tate on harmonica has an uncanny ability to bring movement to song.
An accomplished musician, Tate recently did the film scoring for "Visions"
which became the 1st runner up in the 2003 New York-based 24 hour "Movie
Madness." He holds a Ph.D. in music composition from the University
of Michigan.
